London Day Trips Review

London Time -

Big Ben and Houses of Parliament London My London Day Trips site reviews the world class city of London and helps you plan where to stay, where to eat and what to see in London. I'll help you explore historical and picturesque towns, charming villages and medieval castles in rural England too.

Most visitors to England agree that every British experience has to include the city itself, but very few ever make it beyond the city limits of London. By doing so visitors miss out on the many lovely historic, picturesque towns and villages which are just a short distance from the capital.

For example, in just about an hour by train from Paddington Mainline Station in London, you could be experiencing the ancient city of Oxford and the great University with its intriguing spires and architecture, and of course the Botanic Garden and museums.

If you’re interested in history, visit the prehistoric architecture at Stonehenge which, amazingly, to this day remains unsolved. Also not to be missed are the Roman ruins of Bath, which can be reached by high speed train in about 70 minutes from Paddington Mainline Station in central London.

London day trips can include walks in the capital that may interest you, and of course the city itself is a walkers paradise. You can easily stroll through the unique area of Hampstead or explore the London Museums and even the West End of London, stopping for afternoon tea at Harrods or a 17th century pub for lunch.

For those of us who desire the full royal treatment, let’s take the ferry up the river Thames to Hampton Court Palace, home to kings and queens from Henry Vlll to Georgian times.

Within this site, London Day Trips.com will offer you the very best ideas on how to find the most picturesque villages and towns, magical castles and cathedrals, attractions, entertainment and mainline rail stations serving every corner of Great Britain. I'll include some links to bed and breakfast (B&B's), hotels, and restaurants too.

London itself is a unique blend of history and culture, and is constantly changing, with new landmarks, stylish restaurants and clubs opening up all the time. Recently voted as the gourmet capital of the world, London is the European capital to stay in touch with all that's new and exciting while enjoying its wealth of historic buildings and comprehensive mix of museums and art galleries.

Lunch Time Pub in London For many years, London Day Trips - recommended Hotel's have welcomed celebrities, world leaders and society with gracious style and provide the ultimate London address for visitors wanting to stay in the heart of this dynamic city.

Strategically located in London's exclusive Mayfair on Park Lane (between Marble Arch and Hyde Park Corner), The Dorchester Hotel for example, is within easy access to London's most exclusive shopping boutique areas, including New Bond Street, Old Bond Street and Knightsbridge. Fashionable Oxford Street and Piccadilly are also close by.

Many of London siteseeing main attractions include the British Museum, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the London Eye and the Tower of London, and are all easily accessible by both car and London transport. I recommend you use London Transport rather than your own vehicle in central London, besides getting lost, there is a congestion charge (C Charge) when entering the capital by car.
Just a few minute's walk from Hyde Park Corner Underground Station (tube), you'll be very close to London's West End theatres, and a short bus ride to the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and the English National Opera House at the London Coliseum.

With London's largest royal park, Hyde Park, you can enjoy one of London's finest landscapes. Housing the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain, Hyde Park also offers a range of leisure activities from jogging and tennis to boating on the Serpentine and horse riding.

English Thatched Cottage I grew up just outside of the capital. Because of this I have a fairly good knowledge of London day trips which take you just outside the city limits and beyond. These most beautiful areas are completely missed by most visitors to England.

My site will help you plan your London day
trips within this ancient Metropolis while including some interesting historical detail of those perfect picturesque, "off the beaten track" villages that are just beyond the usual sightseeing and tourist areas.

I hope my London-Day-Trips.com site will help you have a wonderful experience in the Capital and beyond, and I encourage you to explore the picturesque towns and villages of rural England as mentioned in the pages of my site.
