My Story
About me and my site. Thank you for being curious enough to find out why I decided to create a site about London Day Trips in England. First of all I should mention I grew up in a place called Waltham Forest, a suburb of London which is very close to the county line of Essex north east of the city. I worked in the City of London for many years and I would commute the 10 miles every day by train to Liverpool Street Station into the capital, then I took the Underground to St. Paul’s Station.
My office was actually very close to St. Paul’s Cathedral, so on warm and sunny days I would frequently have lunch on the well worn steps of this architectural masterpiece, (which was designed by Sir Christopher Wren), with other city workers and hundreds of tourists.
Another option was to wander down to the River Thames Embankment to take in the ever-changing views of the river from the many parks and gardens. The capital itself has a magnetic magic about it which one never seems to forget in a lifetime. It has been said "when you're tired of London you're tired of life".
There is so much to do in the city as you'll soon realize when you make your many London day trips in and around the city and beyond into the many picturesque towns and villages of rural England.
My favourite London day trips and weekend getaways include places such as Bournemouth in Dorset, which has fabulous beaches, picturesque Swanage, Lulworth Cove and of course don't forget to visit the 1500 year old medieval Corfe Castle which can be seen from Wareham.
When I travel around the West Country of England I seem to meet tourists all the time just looking for that unique, picturesque, off the beaten track scenic wonder.
So, with this in mind, I decided to create a website about London Day Trips which would give an overview of just some of these most beautiful scenic places that are usually missed by so many travellers visiting this part of the country.
I should mention that before I started out on this website building venture, I had no previous experience or knowledge of how to put a website together. It was all a bit scarey for me actually, besides, I thought there was no possibility I would ever understand some of the computer language, for example, what is HTML (hypertext markup language) anyway.
The web-builder I was introduced to took care of all the techie stuff while I concentrated on getting the content and information put into my website. Just one more thing I should mention, putting a website together is simple to do, but it isn't easy. However, with SBI - if you follow the Action Guide (tutorial) step by step, the process becomes very easy.
Just one point to remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, so any website like mine does take time to put together. Fortunately, the 10 day tutorial teaches you not to rush. (10 Days being a metaphor of course - take as long as you need)
Ok, if you want, you could go through my site from the beginning or sign up for my Blog, this way you'll receive updates when I've added additional pages of content to my site.
Another option would be to sign-up for "My London Ezine" or newsletter which I send out periodically, you can view the form on the left side bar. Again, as you can see I have many more pages to ad to my site, so thank you very much for your patience with this work in progress.
If you have any questions or even some great ideas to include in my site, please feel free to contact me via my Contact Form here.
All the best
David
