Jurassic Coast & Purbeck

by Fred Carter
(UK)

Jurassic coastline

Jurassic coastline

I thought I would drop you a brief line to tell you about last weekend and walking along the Jurassic Coast, a favourite of yours I think.

We went down to the coast for three full days last weekend, which coincided with some fabulous weather - temperatures close to 30C and clear blue skies.

We drove to Lulworth Cove and did a spectacular circular walk along the coast before driving over to Purbeck where we spend two nights at a nice hotel in Studland. Plenty of walks there including a breathtaking (and it literally was in such heat and hilly terrain) walk from Studland to Old Harry then on across the downs to Corfe and the famous Corfe Castle.

The best bit was a ride back to Swanage on a 1950s steam train, from Corfe, run by rail enthusiasts. At Swanage station, the staff there were decked out in Victorian clothing and uniforms.

Cheers
