Where to Stay in Knightsbridge
Knightsbridge Knightsbridge is a luxury area of London that is known for being the home of the world-famous Harrod’s Department Store. Almost everything you can imagine can be purchased inside Harrod’s, from designer gear to puppies to 3D televisions, and their food hall on the ground floor serves a selection of delicious food from around the world.
As well as Harrod’s, Harvey Nichols is also in the same area as well as some of the boutiques including the high-street chain stores such as Topshop and H&M. There are plenty more shops along Sloane Street, where all of the top designer boutiques are located such as Bulgari and Roberto Cavalli, for those wishing to splash out on some designer gear in the swankiest area of London. Independent restaurants line the streets of Kensington with tasty Italian options or exotic Moroccan tagines, but there is also a McDonald’s for those who just can’t resist! Located behind the soaring trees are many entrances to Hyde Park, making it a perfect area to stop off for a spot of shopping before heading out for a picnic in Hyde park, or just simply stroll around the area and people watch.
The surrounding residential streets are where many of the city’s wealthiest people live, in the area known as Belgravia, and of course the top luxury hotels are to be found in this area of London. One five-star affair situated in the ares is The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London, a frequent celeb hangout. Directly opposite Harvey Nichols and partly looking across the greenery of Hyde Park, the hotel features luxury guestrooms, decorated in an elegant style. The hotel features a spa including a gym and pool, as well as dining rooms and a couple of bars. The Mandarin Oriental has excellent transport links, being located right next to the tube station on the Piccadilly Hotel. If Knightsbridge is the area you’d like to stay in but you prefer not to splash out so much on a five-star hotel, then the three-star Roof Garden Rooms is a good option. With free Wi-Fi, unique rooms with traditional furnishings, character and air-conditioning, the hotel is a popular choice. The Roof Gardens is located around the corner from Sloane Street, great if you want to pop out for a quick shop without having to face the business of bustling Oxford Street. Close to Knightsbridge are popular areas such as South Kensington, home to the Royal Albert Hall and the Natural History museum, and Chelsea.
